Rotary Boys And Girls Club NBA Alumni

For Rotary Boys & Girls Club Style alums Aaron Brooks, Rodney Stuckey, and Marcus Williams, the NBA dream became a reality on June 28, 2007. Aaron Brooks was drafted by the Houston Rockets; Rodney Stuckey wears the blue and red of the Detroit Pistons, and Marcus Williams is now a member of the defending NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs.

Each is still adjusting to life in the NBA. The long days of travel, the intense competition, and the pressure to perform at a peak level day-in and day-out can be difficult.

Marcus Williams is no stranger to big-time basketball, having started for the perennial Pac-10 power Arizona Wildcats. The 6′7″ Williams played at Roosevelt High School. He was voted to the Pac-10 all freshman team in 2006. Marcus was drafted early in the second round.

For Rodney Stuckey, the road to stardom and his 15th overall ranking in the NBA draft started at Kentwood High School, and then made a stop in Cheney, Washington, and the Eastern Washington University Eagles. As a sophomore, Stuckey averaged a mind-boggling 24.6 points per game. After only two seasons, he had amassed over 1,400 points. After seeing his amazingly impressive numbers, the Pistons couldn’t pass him up.

Last but not least, Aaron Brooks is from Franklin High School. Aaron put up prolific numbers for the University of Oregon Ducks. In his senior year, Brooks was also one of 22 finalists for the John R. Wooden Award, given to the top college basketball player in the nation. On March 28, Brooks was one of 10 players named to the Wooden All-American Team. Most importantly, Brooks has not forgotten the people who helped along the way. Instead of spending draft day in Madison Square Garden, Brooks decided to spend it in Seattle where he celebrated his graduation from college with family and friends at the Rotary Boys and Girls Club. He was chosen late in the first round.

Congratulations Marcus, Rodney, and Aaron! The Club is proud of you and your accomplishments!
