About The Squire Park Community Council

Squire Park Community Council is part of your community representation in city government; it is one of about a dozen community councils comprising the Central Area District Council. The community council was formed in the early 1980s, incorporating in January 1988 as a nonprofit association in the state of Washington.

Squire Park Community Council’s purposes are:

  • bulletTo enhance the quality of life, preserve the residential character, and maintain diversity and the political pluralism of the neighborhood.
  • bulletTo combat community deterioration and secure adequate housing.
  • bulletTo encourage citizen participation in housing and community improvements.
  • bulletTo disseminate information concerning the community council.

Squire Park Community Council publishes a quarterly 6- to 8-page newsletter that is hand-distributed to as many households as possible. The newsletter is supported by donations from members and advertising from neighborhood businesses. More information on the newsletter and links to past articles can be found on the Newsletter page.

All residents in the Squire Park neighborhood are encouraged to become members of the community council. Members elect a eleven- to fifteen person Board of Directors at the January meeting of each year; board members serve two-year terms. The Board of Directors elects four officers to serve for one year. All board meetings are open to all members of the community.
